Final Project-What Makes a Great Website?

A clean, easy to navigate website is far more appealing than one that is cluttered and full of images. Most website owners would like the viewer to return to their site, so think about what might accomplish this.
• Quick to load
• Pertinent information
• New information they will want or need that is added or updated regularly such as a blog
• Easy to navigate to find the information easily

Things you will want on each page:
• Home button
• Contact Us button
• Search box to be able to find the information they are looking for quickly
• Your logo and possibly phone number

Here are some sample sites with the main character of simplicity.

Make a Good Project?

We have viewed some Class A projects during the lecture which makes me think about what's a good project.
“A project is something you want to share” is a sufficient definition for learners of all ages.

Need
Why are you developing this project?
Why do people need help on the topic at this time?
How is the topic of increasing rather than passing or declining importance?

Purpose
What is the work designed to accomplish?
How does it meet the need you have identified?

Contribution
What new information is offered?
In what ways would the work add to current knowledge and practice?
Intended Audiences

Uses
What would the work help the audiences to do, understand, improve, carry out, and so on?
Distinguish between the uses for the practitioner, academic, and general audiences -- or whatever distinction is most meaningful.

Knowledge Base
What is the research or experience base for the information in the project?

Irish town to be an experiment in Near Field Communication

Irish town to be an experiment in Near Field Communication
13.11.2009
The fastest town in Ireland – Tuam! – is to be the first entire town in Europe to see the deployment of Near Field Communication, a technology that is set to transform the world of retail and mobile commerce.

Next week will see the citizens of the Galway town become leaders in next-generation consumer loyalty technology as the vast majority of Tuam retailers join together to implement Zapa Technology’s electronic loyalty card scheme.

Customers in Tuam will simply tap their phone at a terminal beside the cash register to avail of discounts, special offers and other loyalty schemes, ensuring that everyone in the town receives all the loyalty bonuses and rewards to which they are entitled from the town’s retailers.
